On October 19, 2025, road maintenance workers celebrate their professional holiday.

Every year on the third Sunday of October in Russia the Day of Road Industry Workers is celebrated. It is one of the key sectors that ensures transport accessibility and Russia's economic development. More than 3,000 institutions and enterprises are involved in it, and the number of employees is about 750 thousand people.

Interesting facts:

  • Moscow's municipal vehicle fleet comprises 8.6 thousand units of specialized equipment across eight different types. In the early 2000s there were 350 units.
  • The first traffic light in Russia was installed in 1930 in Leningrad at the intersection of Nevsky and Liteiny Avenues.
  • Right-hand traffic appeared in Russia in 1752. It was then that Empress Elizabeth Petrovna issued a decree on right-hand traffic for cabmen and carriages. Before that it existed informally, since it was more convenient for most right-handed people to keep to the right side of the road.

We congratulate road industry workers on their professional holiday. We wish them continuous development, prosperity, success, and decent and safe working conditions.
