Softshell ― a modern multilayer material that combines the advantages of 3-х layers:
- outer layer ― an outerwear fabric with a water-repellent finish;
- middle layer ― a membrane that provides comfortable moisture removal from the microclimate inside the garment, as well as protection from wind and precipitation;
- inner layer ― a soft, skin‑friendly fleece that retains heat well.
Note: there is an ultra-lightweight softshell for garments intended for use in warm spring and autumn conditions. It may be without a membrane.
The softshell solution allows omitting lining and insulation in mid-season models, reducing the weight of garments. The three materials form a single incredibly durable and practical material. Softshell garments are suitable for sports, work and everyday use.
Some softshell materials may contain a small amount of spandex (elastane) for additional comfort during movement and an ideal fit.
