From October 27 to 31, the final of the All‑Russian professional skills competition "Best Welder of Russia" was held in Saint Petersburg, with Vostok‑Service Group as a partner.
The competition was organized by the National Agency for Welding Control (NAKS). The final, held in Russia's northern capital, was an exciting event for 174 welders from 30 Russian regions – each competitor who won the regional stage in one of the four categories had to prove in a fierce contest during the final stage that they were the best in their category.
The competitions took place on two specialized sites equipped for qualification welding tasks and laboratories allowing assessment of the quality of the welded items. Over three days the finalists competed in four categories: manual arc welding with a covered consumable electrode (РД), mechanized welding with solid‑wire in active gas (МП), manual argon‑arc welding with a non‑consumable tungsten electrode (РАД), and welding with a heated tool (НИ).
While the welders competed, their colleagues from the support teams attended technical presentations by experts from Vostok‑Service and other partners, and viewed displays featuring protective clothing from the ZEVS collection, footwear, SPIROTEK RPE for carrying out welding work with modern ZEVS AERO welding shields. Attendees actively asked questions and shared their experience in using PPE during welding.
On October 31, the awards ceremony was held at the EXPOFORUM International Exhibition and Convention Centre, where the winners were announced. We are pleased that in the category "Manual arc welding with a covered consumable electrode (РД)" (one of the most labor‑intensive and skill‑demanding types of welding) the winner was Rinat Izikaev (JSC "Transneft‑Ural", Ufa), who completed the contest tasks using the ZEVS AERO welder PPE set (ZEVS AERO turboblock and ZEVS AEROWELD shield).
The winners who took first place in the four categories received useful gifts from Vostok‑Service Group — ZEVS PRO welding shields, and all competitors who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd received professional DSIZ gift sets from our partner "Laboratory of Safety".
