Genuine leather is a durable, "breathable" and elastic material that protects against moisture, cold and mechanical impacts, providing comfort throughout the day. How should you care for genuine leather so that it retains its protective properties and attractive appearance for years?
1. Cleaning
Remove dust and dirt from shoes after each wear using a soft brush or a slightly damp cloth. Stubborn stains should be removed with special leather care products (foams, shampoos).
Important! Do not use organic solvents or wash leather shoes in a washing machine — this will damage them.
2. Drying
After cleaning or getting wet outdoors, dry shoes at room temperature in a well-ventilated area. Place crumpled paper or shoe trees inside to maintain shape. Insoles and insulating inserts should be dried separately.
Important! It is strictly forbidden to dry leather shoes on radiators, heaters or under direct sunlight. High temperatures cause deformation and cracking of the material.
3. Conditioning and protection
To maintain elasticity and water-repellent properties, leather needs regular conditioning. Treat clean, completely dry shoes with a special cream, wax or emulsion. Apply the product in a thin layer, allow it to absorb, then polish with a soft cloth. It is recommended to perform this procedure at least once a week.
Use water-repellent sprays and waterproofing treatments to protect against moisture.
4. Basic rules for use and storage
- Genuine leather shoes need rest. It is not recommended to wear the same pair two days in a row. Allow at least 24 hours for complete drying and shape recovery.
- Wear shoes with an intermediate layer (socks) — this will protect the interior lining from moisture and rapid wear.
- For long-term storage, clean the shoes, treat them with cream and stuff them with paper to maintain shape. Store them in a well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight.
Regular and proper care helps preserve the attractive appearance and functional qualities of genuine leather shoes.
