- On June 18, 1907, in Arkhangelsk, the first bus run as urban public transport took place. Local entrepreneur Andrey Dengin purchased a motor omnibus that accommodated 25 passengers, weighed 6 tons and developed 26 horsepower. The route ran along the main Troitsky Prospect — from the city hospital to the Mikhaylo-Arkhangelsky Monastery. The length of the route was 6 kilometers. The ticket cost only 5 kopeks.
- The world's first traffic violator was traveling at 13 km/h and exceeded the permitted 3 km/h in 1896.
- The word "shofyor" comes from the French "chauffeur" — "stoker". This is because the engines of the first cars were steam-powered, and the chauffeur did not sit behind the wheel but fed coal into the firebox.
- In 1903, French chemist Édouard Benedictus made a remarkable discovery. While working in his laboratory he accidentally dropped a flask containing a nitrocellulose solution. To his surprise, the glass cracked but did not shatter into fragments. In 1911 the scientist founded a company to produce safety glass for automobiles. This type of glass came to be known as "triplex".
