Interesting facts:
- The first needles were made from fish bones. The familiar metal needles appeared in the 16th century and were made from metal wire.
- Originally, spooled threads had a single thickness and were universal. Over time they began to be classified by thickness, with each variant assigned a specific number. The greater the thread thickness, the smaller the number.
- For a long time buttons served a decorative function: they were made from precious metals and stones. The shape, size, ornamentation and number of buttons indicated the status and financial standing of their owner.
- Silk can be made not only from silkworm cocoons but also from the webs of orb-weaving spiders (nephilids). Spider silk is five times stronger than mulberry silkworm silk, but production is too expensive, so it is not in demand.
We warmly congratulate the employees of our factories and other light industry enterprises on their professional holiday! We wish you health, happiness, prosperity, continued improvement of your skills, and decent and safe working conditions.
