Vostok-Service has contributed to preserving the nature of Lake Baikal and to building hiking trails around one of the most unique lakes in the world.
Widening the hiking trail, cleaning up litter and building bridges over crystal-clear streams — these were the tasks carried out by a group of volunteers on the latest Great Baikal Trail project, in which an employee of Vostok-Service's head office also took part.
For 10 days, despite unfavorable weather conditions, volunteers cleared and widened the corridor of the trail leading from the village of Listvyanka to Bolshiye Koty. Due to rains that caught the group in the Emelyanikha hollow, work slowed considerably. Nevertheless, the volunteers managed to build 2 footbridges and widen more than 500 meters of trail between them.
The project participants — a very diverse group — came to Baikal from different parts of the country. The atmosphere in the group was friendly, supported by the organizers who arranged engaging activities and fun games by the campfire in their free time. This boosted morale and helped volunteers recover more quickly for further work on the trail.
As a day-off activity, the whole group of volunteers set off along the trail to the village of Bolshiye Koty, assessing along the way how previous teams had improved the trail, making it more comfortable and safe.
The Vostok-Service group of companies began cooperating with the Great Baikal Trail association at the end of last year. As part of this cooperation, the company provided volunteers working on the trails with personal protective equipment and anti-encephalitis suits EKSPEDITSIA LUX.
In addition, next month several more Vostok-Service volunteers will join the project: a group of our colleagues from the Irkutsk branch will be building the trail in September.
