Red pandas are waiting to welcome you!

Summer is coming to an end, so its last weekend should be spent having fun. Maybe it's worth visiting the Moscow Zoo and seeing our wards — the red pandas?

The Moscow Zoo is home to about 160 species of animals, 78 of which are listed in the Red Books of Russia and the International Union for Conservation of Nature. It is here that our wards — the red pandas we sponsor together with our partner, the Italian footwear company Panda — are kept.

Did you know that red pandas are also called the cat bear? Indeed, the animal is similar in size to a large domestic cat. But it received this nickname because of its scientific name — Ailurus fulgens — which can be translated as “shining cat”. The red panda is known for its peaceful, playful temperament and adapts easily to captivity.

Unfortunately, today this species is listed in the International Red List with the status “Endangered” and is classified as threatened with extinction, as only 2500 individuals remain (according to other data, about 10 000). To prevent these animals from disappearing and to contribute to the conservation of the species, in 2014 we took under our care the female Zein and the male Ryzhik at the Moscow Zoo.

We remind you that anyone can help preserve the red pandas together with us. By purchasing products from the Panda company in our stores, you can be sure that part of the proceeds will go to the care of the animals at the Moscow Zoo.

Please note: the charity project includes products marked with special tags featuring a panda image.
