22 April is traditionally known as Earth Day. It is the name given to a series of events held in spring aimed at encouraging each person to pay more attention to the surrounding environment.
The first such campaign took place more than 40 years ago. The organizers were surprised by its success and decided to make the event a regular occurrence.
The tradition of celebrating Earth Day reached Russia in 1990 and has continued to the present day. Today it is observed as part of the Days of Protection from Environmental Hazards. On this day, activists across the country plant trees, organize volunteer clean-ups and tidy up yard areas.
Vostok-Service Group pays close attention to supporting ecology and protecting the environment. Therefore, ahead of Earth Day and within the framework of Vostok-Service's eco-program, the company's staff decided to green the area adjacent to the main office.
Due to heavy rains, the planting was postponed to 26 April. On that day the weather cleared up somewhat, and several company employees, armed with shovels and rakes, planted young rowan and bird cherry saplings, lilac and jasmine bushes along the embankment adjacent to the road.
The initiative of Vostok-Service Group's central office is actively supported by the company's branches as well. We hope that many others will join this effort, and together we will make our planet cleaner and greener!
