Toe Protection (Toe Caps)

In the manufacturing facilities of most industrial sectors it is additionally required to provide protection for workers' toes against a 200 Дж impact in the toe area. To this end, various toe caps are used — metal toe caps with anti-corrosion treatment and a special rubber edging that prevents chafing, or lightweight toe caps made of composite materials.

Modern toe caps made of composite and polycarbonate materials are gaining increasing popularity.

Most composites consist of two types of components: the matrix and the reinforcing elements embedded within it. The reinforcing elements provide the required mechanical characteristics of the composite material (strength, stiffness, etc.), while the matrix (or binder) enables the reinforcing elements to work together and protects them from mechanical damage and aggressive chemical environments.

One of the advantages of using a composite toecap is that it is lightweight, non-magnetic, and does not chill the toes.

If a metal toecap is used to protect the toes in footwear, it is important that foam materials be used together with it as padding, or that it be equipped with a rubber lining that protects the foot from rubbing against the metal and evens out differences in material thickness inside the shoe.
