The ability of footwear to resist slipping on icy, wet, muddy, oily, petrol-contaminated, sand-covered and other surfaces depends on:
- the sole material;
- the design of the sole and tread (it is also important that the mold design is correctly selected);
- the presence of special attachments.
Nitrile soles are the least prone to slipping. This material has high resistance performance on slippery and contaminated surfaces. Two-layer soles made of dual-density materials (PU/PU, PU/nitrile, PU/TPU) also demonstrate good slip resistance.
Together with colleagues from Italy and Germany, the technical specialists of the Vostok-Service Group have developed a sole tread that takes into account operational conditions where slip risk arises:
- tread edges are oriented in different directions;
- tread depth — more than 4 mm;
- groove width — at least 3 mm;
- tread pattern is formed at varying angles;
- a special ribbed surface increases grip on the ground.
Dirt is continuously removed from the grooves of such a self-cleaning tread during use.
For walking and working on icy surfaces, footwear is equipped with special studs that are mounted directly into the sole, or with anti-slip attachments.
