Scratch Protection

Polycarbonate is one of the most frequently used materials for manufacturing protective eyewear lenses. The material is relatively soft and has a porous surface structure. As a result, even the tiniest particle that lands on or brushes against the lens leaves a noticeable mark.

Over time, glasses that are not protected by a special coating develop a network of micro-scratches, which significantly reduces lens transparency. To protect the lens from scratches, a coating is applied that makes it extremely smooth and even — flying particles cannot catch on the protruding microelements of the surface and cause damage.
