Polyvinyl chloride is a thermoplastic polymer. It exhibits chemical resistance to alkalis, mineral oils, many acids and solvents.
Does not burn in air and has low frost resistance (−15°C). Chemical formula: [-CH2-CHCl-]n.
In the footwear industry it is used to manufacture water-resistant footwear, white footwear for the food industry, or soles by injection molding.
