Cleansing Paste

Hand-cleaning paste is a dermatological PPE used to remove industrial greases, metal dust, heavy fuel oil, resins, bitumen, dyes and other stubborn contaminants that soap cannot remove.

It differs from cleansing creams and emulsions by a thicker consistency and greater effectiveness.

Composition

Cleansing pastes contain several components: special abrasives capable of scrubbing contaminants deep out of the pores, highly effective surfactants (surface-active agents) that provide rinsing and cleaning action, and moisturizing ingredients. This combination ensures that a hand cleansing paste effectively removes the following types of contamination:

  • organic solvents, industrial oils, greases, soot;
  • varnishes, paints, resins, crude oil and petroleum products, fuel oil;
  • graphite, coal, glass and other types of industrial dust;
  • water- and oil-based metalworking fluids;
  • solutions of cement, lime, acids, salts, alkalis;
  • oil emulsions and other working materials.

Cleansing pastes use natural abrasives (most often fine and medium fractions of apricot kernel shells), synthetic abrasives (polyethylene granules), as well as combinations thereof. 

How it works

Apply the paste with abrasive components to dry skin of the hands, rub it in, add a small amount of water and rub again. The abrasive particles remove heavy soiling from the skin surface, and only after this stage do surfactants take effect: upon contact with water they capture particles of contamination and wash them away. Moisturizing ingredients help restore the stratum corneum during rinsing. 

Properties

A cleansing paste with a natural abrasive effectively cleans the hands of persistent contaminants, does not cause irritation, supports the skin's natural protective barrier, and rinses off easily. It is recommended for use in combination with protective creams (before work) and restorative creams (after work).
