Warming acts like an alarm clock for ticks: once a sustained above-zero temperature (+5 °С and above) sets in, their activity season begins. To ensure that time spent outdoors during this period is not only enjoyable but also safe, it is important to prepare properly when spending time outside cities and populated areas.
Ticks primarily inhabit damp areas with dense vegetation. You are most likely to encounter them in deciduous and mixed forests, overgrown ravines and lowlands, on the banks of bodies of water with tall grass, and on country plots — especially those near forests — with unmown terrain and uncleared fallen leaves.
Regular clothing cannot reliably protect against ticks for several reasons:
- The garment design does not prevent insects from getting into the space under clothing: a tick can crawl under clothes and attach to the body immediately, or it can remain in folds or pockets — it is carried home on clothing from the forest, where it then attacks its host.
- Exposed areas of the body remain vulnerable.
- Ticks are difficult to spot on dark clothing.
To protect against ticks, specialized clothing should be used — anti-encephalitis suits such as «Экспедиция Люкс», designed with the behavioral characteristics of ticks in mind (they crawl only upward):
- A jacket and trousers with cuffs and a collar that fit snugly to the body. Only the hands remain exposed; the face can additionally be covered with a fine-mesh zippered net located in the hood.
- Special trap-folds on the jacket, sleeves and trouser legs prevent ticks from moving upward on the clothing. Treated with the acaricidal spray Safe and Care Reftamid (Maximum, Extreme or Extra Anti-Tick), they provide guaranteed protection against ticks: once a tick enters such a trap, it can only move along it.
- Under the effect of the acaricidal agent, which has a paralytic action on the tick, the tick loses the ability to move and falls off the clothing to the ground.
- Zippered pockets.
- Ventilation openings protected by mesh.
- To prevent a tick from getting under the clothing, tuck the bottom of the jacket lining into the trousers, tuck the inner cuffs of the trousers into footwear, and ensure the pocket zippers are closed.

- Treat the traps with an acaricidal agent and wait for them to dry completely.
- After putting on the suit, fasten all closures, including pocket closures, orient the trap-folds downward, put on the hood, and in areas with high tick prevalence — fasten the mesh.
- If the suit becomes wet during use, reapply the treatment before further use.
For convenience, the hood size can be adjusted using the strap and drawcord.
