The trigger for tick activity is a sustained rise in temperature to +5 °C and above. This means one thing — in the temperate climate zone, which includes the majority of Russia's territory (the southern part of the Far East, Eastern Siberia, the European part, as well as the West Siberian Plain in the south and central areas), their activity begins in early or mid-April, when thermometer readings rise above zero.
Despite their small size, they pose a significant danger to people: they are carriers of tick-borne encephalitis — a severe disease of the central nervous system. Ticks can also transmit other serious illnesses, including plague, tularemia, borreliosis, brucellosis, and typhus. Even if a tick bite was brief, the risk of contracting tick-borne infections cannot be ruled out.
The "Expedition Lux" suit is approved by specialists of the Research Institute of Disinfectology of Rospotrebnadzor and, when used correctly, provides 100% protection against tick bites and blood-sucking insects. Two color options are available — khaki with olive and the "digital" camouflage.
The "Expedition Bn Palatka" suit — a jacket and trousers set — is made in a universal khaki color. It features a hood with mosquito netting, knitted cuffs at the ends of the sleeves and trousers, and tick-trapping folds on the jacket and trousers.
The trap folds on the "Expedition" suits must be treated with a special acaricidal agent.
