8 tips: how to properly store shoes between seasons

A common occurrence is that footwear loses its performance characteristics and protective properties after off-season storage. The cause is improper storage. Simply following a few basic recommendations will ensure the footwear reaches its intended service life.

It is common for footwear to lose its performance and protective properties after being stored during the off-season. The reason is improper storage. Simply following a few basic recommendations will help the footwear serve its intended service life.

Recommendations:

  1. Thoroughly clean off dirt, shake out dust and foreign objects, and dry the footwear.
  2. Dry footwear at room temperature in a well-ventilated area or use specialized dryers and drying cabinets. It is important to loosen laces as much as possible and remove insoles for drying and airing.
  3. Store and dry footwear at least 1 meter away from heating appliances and heat sources to prevent the footwear from drying out. Avoid exposing the items to direct sunlight.
  4. Straighten footwear to prevent creasing and deformation. It is advisable to place special inserts inside the shoes to minimize the risk of deformation.
  5. Place footwear in the individual packaging (boxes) in which it was supplied.
  6. Store new and used footwear separately.
  7. Store safety footwear at a temperature from +15 to + 25 and a relative humidity of 50-80%.
  8. Place racks for safety footwear at least 1 m away from heating appliances. The distance to walls and other objects should be at least 20 cm.
