Batteries are one of the most environmentally hazardous types of household waste. There are several reasons for this:
- they contain hazardous substances — alkalis and heavy metals — which have a harmful impact on the environment: improperly disposed batteries become a source of groundwater, soil and plant contamination, and, when landfills catch fire, air pollution;
- they have a long-term effect: the environmental contamination caused by a single battery can last up to 30 years;
- long decomposition time: experts estimate that, on average, the complete decomposition of a battery takes 100 years.
Vostok-Service is a company that actively supports various environmental initiatives and strives in every way to contribute to the preservation of nature and the environment.
That is why we have joined the battery collection movement and installed special collection containers at our warehouses, office, in most stores in Moscow and the Moscow region, as well as in the stores of our regional branches.
Now anyone can bring in batteries. Once a container is full, we will send its contents for recycling.
Collecting batteries and sending them for recycling is our shared contribution to preserving the environment. Only through joint efforts can we help nature and protect the environment from harmful impacts.
